The Banking HRM Disciplinary Policies


In the Banking sector, a mistake can lead to serious issues with financially and legally. Therefore, Bank HRM has to make sure every employee well trained and aware of the responsibilities and rules.



The main factor is disciplinary procedure is a process for dealing with perceived employee misconduct. Bank will typically have a wide range of disciplinary procedures to invoke depending on the severity of the transgression (hrzone, 2019)



HRM has to be more accurate in the training and information what they provided to employees to make sure they discharge the duties efficiently diligently and a with integrity. The employee should carry out all lawful orders and instructions given by the HRM. Followings are some rules and discipline what an employee should follow.



          Safeguard the property, interest and reputation of the bank.

          Conduct himself in a fit and proper manner both inside and outside the bank,

          Maintaining cordial to uphold the reputation of the bank

          Must not to engage in a business undertaking.  

          Refrain from any form of activity, which might result in pecuniary embarrassment to him or to the bank

          Abstain from utilizing the property of the bank for private work, including vehicles, or any other documents such as circulars/formats/manuals unless with written approval from the management of the bank.

          Avoid disclosing bank information to out sider’s

The primary purpose of progressive discipline is to assist the employee to understand that a performance problem or opportunity for improvement exists



Maintain strict confidentially in respect of all official transactions entered within the premises of the bank and refrain from releasing any information to the media likely to cause embarrassment to the bank and there will be legal action taken against the employees who reveal the information. ( hethfield,2018)



The process features a series of increasingly formal efforts to provide feedback to the employee so that they can avoid any problems. The HRM goal of progressive discipline is to get the employee's attention so that they understand that employee performance improvement is essential if they want to remain employed.

Thanks for the feedback Madhawa. yes, there are more to write about the topic but I had just expressed the idea stay within the word limit. therefore here are some following acts should also be considered as constituting misconduct Exceeding Delegated Authority, Cash excess/shortages, borrowing from customers, Opening A/cs in another person’s name, Irregularities causing loss of the bank, Unauthorized/suspicious transactions, Undue claims, Violation of oath of secrecy, Misuse of bank documents, Producing fraudulent/forged documents, Circulation of documents /misuse of bank resources

  4. Good article about the disciplinary policies of a bank. I think this is a common factor for every organization and every employee of any organization should aware about. In my case even, as i work for a software company, it's my responsibility and i bonded to protect the sensitive data of my organization and what i believe is it's again HR's duty and responsibility to acknowledge the people who working for the company. Recently we also spared our time to go through and learn how to identify and avoid bribery and corruptions. And we received it through our HR. So I think HR should focus on conducting these type of acknowledgement sessions in timely manner.

My opinion is there are many rules, regulations and guidelines applicable to the banking sector than any other sector.Because bankers are dealing with customers valuable properties(money and jewelries...etc). Those guidelines and rules helps to conduct a banker's career life as well as other subordinates' career life safely and smoothly . It is an impossible task to explain it in 350 words.but any how you have tried to give some idea of the disciplinary policies related to the Bank.

  7. Almost every bank and financial institution is involved in various functions in a day's job and thus requires a highly effective team and appropriate manpower to run the show. As you have mentioned it is a must that the rules and regulations should be very tough when comparing with the other organizations, Very good post.
